Scum chat moves fast and decisions are usually made and reconsidered constantly. Collab effort is harder to keep track of than just an individual one. Although collabs help when one person is busy or forgot the time.

brazil you're probably kinda lucky i wasn't there for ita

i couldve probably(absolutely) shot you

Cross-posting from the spec thread:

I promise you, next time, if I'm able to, I'll kill you straight away.

Haha, no chill.

Who was it that came up with the plan to lynch all the players claiming Vanilla Town?

Because I think going through that strategy really brought it to the fore how many almost 100% town PRs were remaining in the game.

That was me! As usual, though, I kept overthinking things when the last day happened. So much stress could've been avoided if I just stuck to the plan of lynching vanillas.

By the way, can someone grade me on how I did? I know that the way I acted early game is wayyyy different from how I acted these last couple of day phases, but some specific pointers would be nice.

I feel like I'm not usually good at these but hey, whatever, awards!

It's hard to do MVP awards because it is easy to focus in on who was there at the end so I'll split it into two for each.

End Game Town MVP: I'm going to give this one to Kawl. He was wrong a couple times near the end there but he came in hot to swing things back on Kalor which was really the hit that town needed. It bought them more time for the oreo mislynch which was always going to happen for some reason.

Early Game Town MVP: Probably forgotten for most since all of his work was behind the scenes but I have to give this one to BladeSymphony. With his personal action and an event item he never failed to kill scum directly and both probably would have gotten away for a bit longer (at least DCPat for sure, Rynam was maybe already going to die soon) and I think these kills were actually what swung the needle way in town's favor. Whenever I put a gun in a town member's hands, I expect it to hit another townie most of the time but he didn't which made the early game very lopsided in town's favor.

End Game Scum MVP: Fandorin lived soooooo much longer than he should have and that was due to so much good and consistent play. His lynch at the end of the day was more due to mechanical clears as opposed to actual scummy play. Aside from a few very small maneuvers, he pretty much played exactly like a town member and did so much extra commentary near the end that was detrimental to mislynches that could have happened but made him look so much cleaner than he was and that's a very hard thing to pull off.

Early Game Scum MVP: Include pretty much singlehandedly kept morale from tanking in the early days for scum. She put an end to (most) bussing after the first day fiasco and kept everyone on their feet until early death and so many more bonus points for having to deal with a direct red check and still coming out against it was the craziest shenanigans possible.

Now for the nonsense:

Best Hype-Men (Scum and Town) - Verelios for scum and Stuart for town both died fairly early and from that point forward shitposted in the spec thread and eyed the game thread like hawks looking for any little hint of their team doing good to hype it up and crashing hard whenever the other team was coming out better. It made that thread so much fun to follow on a day to day basis (and for some stretches of time, I just followed the game through them instead of reading it myself :P)

Longest Tunnel - Zeke did everything in his power to chase down that gladiator role in the face of any other facts, theories, or bulletproof vests. The tunnel solidified completely when he took a kill shot on melon, knowing full well she had a BP and sending in the command with this gif attached:
giphy.gif
Hooo boy

Since Melon asked so kindly and I don't have a better name for this hate-filled rivalry category:

Prom King and Queen - Splinter and Melon. When I gave melon her role, I think she PM'd me within 10 minutes letting me know that she was going to use it on Splinter asap at game start. Obviously, I knew hilarity would ensue and I think the only thing that disappointed me is that no one actually took to the duel and then Zeke interrupted the rigged ITA fight that they were going to have (still think melon would have shot first and hit on low luck). Just kudos for keeping a good rivalry going strong.

Hope's Peak Ultimate (Un)Lucky Student - Mostly behind the scenes shenanigans that no one really saw during the game but I want to give a shout out to Mazre. If you recall from way back when on day 2, he flipped with a role that let him shoot at 100% during ITAs but at the cost of, if he ever killed two townies, he would die automatically. He got off ONE shot and in that shot, two miraculous things happened. The first is he rolled the most useless 100 ever. I rolled his shot for fun because I hadn't blocked out that space in my spreadsheet so I figured I'd fill it, I didn't think I'd be stealing a perfect roll from someone else who needed it. The second thing is he had an easy shot against two conflicting claims. He shot the town member instead of the scum member BUT it didn't matter anyway because he happened to be hitting one of the few natural BPs in the game. He never got to the point where a second shot would have mattered but he would have walked into day 3 with a new shot ready to go and his hands still completely clean in terms of his role.

Saddest Death: rac through extension of the Lone Stranger. This was a lack of foresight on my part but I didn't think the Stranger would be a magnet for as many role actions as he was and I definitely didn't consider him going to jail. rac's role was meant to be an innocent child light role where he summoned it, died later, and then his NPC would be a town confirmed entity that still had a vote and such but couldn't actually communicate properly. I expected kills to go for it eventually but not while it was still a relative unknown. Telling rac that he couldn't talk to the jailer and figuring that Neck would kill it if it didn't respond was the saddest ending to the power that I never predicted.

idk, there's probably a ton more stuff I'm forgetting and for a 50 player game, I think tons of people did insanely well. I could have commentary on Blarg ghosting the game for almost 2 day cycles before coming in hard and doing crazy good (and then also whiffing that kill on Muffin) or on Ouro and Faddy who were short lived but had some super spot on reads for a crazy and long day one. Or on Salva who let RNG decide his hiding spot one time and it put him right behind his death with Include or Monkey who is always a solving machine that puts in work. Or on Natiko and Xbro who orchestrated a lot of the N1 actions to maximize the amount of deaths possible. etc. etc. etc. A lot happened in this game and I'm happy that so many people did so well and actually one last category because it would be a shame if I didn't mention it.

Best Forced Town Leader - Super big props to Poltergust who PUT IN WORK when he was down to the final few. He is someone I've never seen in the town leader role but hopped into it when it mattered and did amazing. Some of those late theories were crazy wild but he was literally turning over every stone making sure he didn't miss a single thing and I loved it. I think I mentioned it in spec chat too but that's one of my favorite things about end game after a lot of the loud voices have been shot.

Kudos everyone, I wrote too much.

I think I gave controlled messes, fucking up vote counts in two events and handing out 3 guns in one event to even out the low death rate of ITAs comes to mind :P

a lost of the super great plays have been covered, but personal little moment that was my favorite was chatting in jail with neck :D

main thread stresses me out sometimes and just being able to bounce my stupid theories and textdump with someone who was town and knew i was town was really nice. also the general encouragement was heartwarming, probably kept my motivation and morale from getting even worse near the end. tysm jail pal! i'm sad we didnt get to tag team.

I thought you did really well later in the game. You put in a lot of effort and tried to reconsider everything carefully. It was a big step up from the early phases. Solid B.

Haha, no chill.

Just promising what you asked ;)

Early game you were quiet and I honestly don't remember much from you (sorry) but the last few days you stepped the fuck up just when Town needed it the most so you get at least a B overall with an S ranking for the last few days (and I'd say that even if you had mislynched)

So yeah well done and hope to play with you again someday :)

I'm happy to have been killed this time, last time, I was lynched in both Monopoly and PR (D2 and D3 respectfully) so being killed was nice this time instead of lynch.

Happy to have entertained though. :)

Gotta say, I enjoyed reading over your jail thread. Interesting Jailer interaction even against the odds considering how quickly the Kill command was put on you. You still wanted to get your thoughts out.

haha, i think i just saw that kill command and was thoroughly depressed that i was gonna die without contributing much to the game. but i am very glad geno and blade died soon after so almost none of my conspiracy theorying actually came to light. glad you enjoyed it!

Well, I did seem suspicious for bussing him huh?
this game is now on the player data sheet, for those of you thinking about your 100% winrates ~
I have a 100% loss rate? Gosh darn it.

@rac I am sorry about destroying your role/excitement. We got to play a part in a nice tragedy, at least?

@faircure I needed the outlet of that jail night after the rac debacle. It helped psyche me up for the coming day, despite the whole getting shot in the face thing. Really glad I didn’t kill you in the end.

Something about getting a night talky role really paralyzed me during the day. Next game I’ll have to be more active regardless of circumstance.

Holy shit! We won! YES YES YES! This morning I was really pumped when I read the day ending! Swung my fists into the air and loudly yelled "YEAH", my gf was slightly startled :D

Thank you very, very much @Kawl @Poltergust @rac! You did it :)

It was a really enjoyable ending to the game and following the days was fun! Congrats to @Fandorin for holding out as long as you did. You were so close to bringing it home.

And a big thanks to @Sorian for orchestrating everything. Awesome game, great modding <3

Final note: Can we all agree that our community actually likes these big cray cray games? (in comparison to the classic games with only a few PRs, which are fine but not as exciting)

Faddy

of, having, or involving transitory whims
I think our community likes games with unique twists, roles and mechanics people haven't seen before. And people are always more engaged when they have a power. however if every game was like that is would be very tiring.

It's all about variety. Only basic games or only unusual games would be tiring.

I read back on a your last few days and Sorian is correct. You really did step up in the last few phases. Getting all the flips up, writing up the claims and then working out what was 'wrong' in the game. That was an essential part in the win when it started to look like mafia were getting away from us.

The fact you had a power that could town confirm you is just the icing on the cake with that move. And holding your power for that long too is commendable. You could have used it to dodge ITAs earlier in the game or try to force yourself to be cleared earlier but you kept it for the perfect moment.

It is tough to be specific about pointers here since this is such an unusual game. You should be very satisfied with the ending. Getting it right in the end game always feels good. The serious of posts where you decide it must be Fandorin then circle around to "It..can't be Fandorin" was something, spec chat was dying in that whole sequence then Kawl/Rac. I guess you should be more trusting of your first instincts.

Honestly the only one bit of advice I have is always weigh mechanics and a person's play style when it comes to your reads. You ended up on Fandorin at the end but there looked like a couple moments there where it looked like you may let him go.

Mechanics-wise it's MUCH harder for Scum to lie or move around that than it is their playstyle. Some Scum players, like Fand and Include, can mimic being Town so well that it's almost impossible to catch them just on how they play alone. When mechanics suggest someone may be Scum give that a really good thought because that's something they can have trouble lying about. Not always, but it's a strong possibly.

There’s gonna be a review thread?

Grizzly already answered it but yes, it should be going up tomorrow.

I agree, I think we've all learned from this game that with great power comes great responsibility.

Blargonaut

SCUM UP!
The type of neutrals I've seen in this type of extra large ITA style game is typically a 4 player neutral team that are all individually tasked with being personally responsible for killing a specific player (usually they know flavor name and not which player) whether that be by ITA shooting them or being on their vote. If the player dies without their input then they become a survivor, the neutral team wins if 3 out of 4 meet their objectives. It would have been on the table if we had went bigger with the game. Otherwise, I didn't want to do single neutrals because ITAs could too easily fuck that over and I don't like neutrals put only into a game for fun/balance that have no actual hope of winning without miracles.
