Dang, sorry about that Kits! I was tempted to aim elsewhere at Brazil, but I felt like people would have been really mad if I hit town who wasn't being voted for at that point. And I unfortunately expected that if I revealed what my power was called I would die right after, so that's why I didn't claim it any sooner. At least I see that some of my suspicions were well founded in here though!

Yeaaah, it's unfortunate but mafia are just really going to push people into not believing that kind of claim and people are naturally a little bit skeptical about it already. It sucks, but I think you made the best of it that you could, and it's kind of bad luck to get checked by 2 cops on the same night

In LiS, I gave the Serial Killer (Swamped) a fake role claim like I did for the Mafia team, and it was Miller. She claimed it right away on D1, and ended up winning the game by herself. So I really think it all came down to how you only claimed it after being red-checked. I think the common play is to be forthcoming about it on D1 if you want any townie points for it later, but there will almost always be doubt just because of the nature of the role I think.

Also also, just as a side note, still way too many people that I've seen messing up on Aeleus's preferred pronouns, which just bums me out a lot.

I can't even remember how many times I corrected people, and Geno and Gorlak did too, and Gorlak made that post reminding everyone to check pronouns, and yet it's still happening. I don't really know what can be done about it, but I'm still seeing it, and it still bums me out. That's all.

It is a bit frustrating, but I think all we really can do is just keep reminding people when they make mistakes, and seriously recommend that some people just keep the Roster open when making posts so they can make sure they get them right. I don't think it's being done maliciously, but it absolutely still sucks to get misgendered repeatedly, so I sincerely hope people start to correct soon

To add onto this slightly, the only thing that can really be done beyond reminding people and correcting them that would have a serious impact at this point is some kind of warning system that could lead up to a modkill. Modkilling is never fun for anyone involved and I really don't know where the line would be for this (obviously if it was malicious, that'd be hopefully immediate), but pronouns are pretty dang important to people and I know that if someone repeatedly used the wrong ones for me despite multiple corrections, I would be pretty annoyed or upset with them. There have been warnings in the thread for specific people already, and even a general one in the thread listing everyone's pronouns so it's kind of tricky to tell what would be effective here. Maybe someone from the OM staff or game runners could PM the person and explain why pronouns matter and try to be more cautious in the future? And then at that point give them a little less leeway?

This might be a conversation that's better saved for post-game or in the end of season review thread, but I think it is worth discussing as it seems to happen more often than we'd hope.

Yeah, I agree with all of this. Like, obviously I highly doubt anyone is doing it on purpose here, but it's the way it's persisting even despite multiple corrections and warnings that makes it a problem in my eyes.

It is one of the rules of the game which is posted at the start of every game ("5. Please respect all of your fellow players. We ask that you respect a player’s personal pronouns") so I don't think it would be out of the question to give either public or private warnings about it if it is persistent, just as a gamerunner or someone in the modchat would do for any other rule being broken.

And yeah, I'll definitely try to remember to bring this up in the review thread as well.

I tracked you N1, but you didn't move. Then I wasn't sure who to track N2 and decided to wait for N4 when there would be fewer players and it was guaranteed that a scum team would try to kill someone.

Muffin is trying to garner town support by green checking Brazil. It's a great play. It puts more suspicion on Mao (since he likely switched himself with Brazil). And one of the scum teams is bound to NK him now. Muffin can afford to be more aggressive against Mao, but perhaps the rest of town will do the work.

From the number of times I've seen it happen, I think it's a tradition by now. Stu strikes me as being this community's Cassandra - he often gets things right quite early, but his ideas are quickly thrown out by everyone else.

Either way, I still think Fran is definitely on the second Mafia team lol, that is my tunnel and I'm sticking to it. Also since this is Spec and my mind is barely focused on solving this game anymore, I don't even need to justify it, it's just vibes lol.

I 100% support modkilling for repeated pronoun fuckups. It's the simplest form of respect for your fellow players, period.

People have different playstyles. Some are chill, some are heated, some are totally aggro, some are disengaged, and we all work around that because we understand we are all humans doing things. If we can do that, we remember to check the roster. Put a post-it on your computer. Leave the page open in a mobile tab. Do better.

Yass queen. I usually stop posting before referencing someone to go back and check their pronouns because 1). I'm not racing to post and 2). It would kind of suck to know someone I consider a mate wasn't aware of it.

However, you would like redemption here as you were offered by Rocky to join, plus, you do happen to have this Motherfucking Nasty Rash. You'll get it off by killing everyone off as the form of a Necromorpher... With Sex!

Your Scum Team roles are as follows:
Evil – Rocky Rickaby’s Spirit (Tactician/Dream Forger/Some immunities)
Deadly – Pennington the Morally Driven Sex Machine (Rolecop/Ghost Charmer/(Disguiser)/Morality/Announcer)
Ray – Thirdkoopa’s Spirit (Ultima Investigation Immunity/Loyal Brother)

Your abilities are as follows:
Sexual Healing -
You have two different type of sex methods. These work better in chance if you don't use your necromance ability.

Prostitute with Raging Infection - You're able to Poison someone. The poison goes through five steps (The first two are the only ones likely to succeed)
Stage 1: Roleblock
Stage 2: Post Restrict (Randomly decided upon the host but likely to be "MAFIA DAYKILL MAFIA DAYKILL MAFIA DAYKILL" or "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-")
Stage 3: Role Seal
Stage 4: Vote Steal
Stage 5: Death

Prostitute with a Motherfuckin' Nasty Rash - You're able to sacrifice your Poison ability for as long as this works. You'll basically infect someone with a MOTHERFUCKIN Nasty Rash, if this refuses to work, you'll just gain it back. They'll not know this but they'll be killing with Poison every night (As the poison upgrades); The Town will be given one hint to find the person each day, but the hint won't be rather large. Only by killing them or healing them through a Status Doctor can cure this. If not... get ready for a bloodbath. The kill flavor will be "Dropped dead and Collasped from amazing Sex!"

Necromorph: Remember all those times you were Beloved Princess? You've decided to study the ability of Necromancing for all that time you were dead and gained this power to use along with your regular stuff. You're able to take one dead body and use it for the rest of the cycle. Be warned through, there are limits, especially as every ability to this game is rather... complex.

Janitor-
You obtained all these one-shot Jan's to steal people away. All of these may be used at night for any that effect Night

  • Another Dimension - You may summon five people to get janned and play a game in a PM on their choosing while still doing whatever. (Day ability - This may not be used if it would cause the situation to endgame)

  • Rock Bottom - You may Jan someone's flip on the Day Phase. (Day ability)

  • Pirates! Arrgh - You may infect the lynch at night to be caused by pirates instead taking the person away on a voyage for however long they choose to. (Night ability)

  • Delay - A delay in flips will be caused, causing all the flips to only be shown in the end of the Day. This may or may not be announced (Night ability)

  • Spy - Wait this isn't a Janito- Anyways, you'll be able to see all the people who didn't submit in Night Actions from the last night. This is one-shot and can not be used on a Killess Night (If it's a Night 1 no kill start or if there's a global block of sorts)

Mafia:
[Nightkill] – If you choose to do the Nightkill kill flavor will be “experienced the best Orgasm ever!”. One person who targets your victim will also be janned for a certain extension of time upon death (Likely for the rest of the game)

[Fakeclaim] - Your best Fakeclaim is probably Town Necromancer with maybe adding a bit onto it.

Win condition:
(Scum) Scum must have at least one person and take over 50% of the Town. If there are any situations that work differently, this’ll be explained as such.

Yeah, I dont think it'd fly here if the review board is reviewing every possible scenario to equate for balance because it'd be impossible with how many players we had and how crazy we were willing to go with the set-ups.

We tended to let things go wild with bastard games since we had vanilla and role madness set ups that were better balanced. Not knowing what could happen was what made things exciting and unpredictable, and as long as every player was given roles like the one above, we figured there couldn't be a runaway situation that made the game ridiculously unbalanced.

This game mafia won playing against 25ish townies and 10ish neutrals and went into N13.

Honestly I was buying the Nexus Doctor claim until you said you only targeted Loki. I just don't think we'd see an unlimited-shot Doctor around here that could target the same person over and over, since that can lead to some broken strats.

Imo in bastard games reviewers should let the designers do whatever they want, feels bad when a mechanic you want in gets cut because the reviewer thinks it won't be fun or something. People know what they are in for when they sign up for such games. Props to Monkey for not really removing anything and just wanted to know how things worked and helped with grammar and the pm's.

Well, here there's bastard (things just can't be trusted) and then there's like... wild bastard plus, which is more like what the HvV games are, and we do still want to make sure things are clear and easy to follow and solvable in some sense because that's a standard we set for the community at large.

We'll do wild with limits lol.

It just depends on the set up. If an unlimited doctor exists, scum can be given an ability that switches the green checked player with someone else, or an ability that lets them watch the cleared player to see who's protecting them.

you can balance it, but our community tended to have all our roles be unlimited as opposed to x-shot except things like Jack of all Trades or Janitor type roles to prevent things from breaking. I can't recall a time this ever failed horribly for us and a particular role broke the game.

Yeah, every mafia community is different. This game was fun and it's neat that it's still very solvable.

It was fun and I learned how much I need to adjust, lol.
