SCUM UP!
Wasn't N1 just the right night to kill CCS? He hinted at a PR but not in a manner that would've convinced anyone of his alignment. Why would he be protected by a third party? The choice was between CCS having some form immunity against him having a power that could prove itself and/or actively damage the meanies. With the extra kill in play, why not take the risk one of the kills fails? Obviously, a lost kill hurts but the game cannot be balanced around successfully making that kill.
I concur

Made sense to kill CCS, honestly

You make sense

Scum bomb died as well Town jailer and regular townie

Is nin the scum?

They are most certainly alive if Scum bomb/regular townie/Townie jailor is alive

Faddy, mind giving a top three targets for your vote right now? Cheers.

Crimson because the end of day hitting feels like scum had an activity problem.
Sorian because of the way he was anti-Kawl lynch and followed onto CCS.

Everyone else still feels at least a bit sketchy. Trying to work out who I trust to be town is proving to be a difficult problem.

So you're proposing that 15 people voted at random, and as luck would have it, the majority landed on scum. That would be "luck".

(These arguments are so stupid). Seriously? Are you really so dense that you are changing the framework to sound witty? No, people who aren't good at scum hunting fell into the comfortable spot of "let's lynch the guy who hasn't played a single bit of mafia during this day phase." The luck was that his role did happen to be scum, he could have literally been anything, nothing from his actions meant jack shit for alignment. No one is saying everyone went to rng.net and happened to pull Kawl's number out of a hat.

Squid made a huge difference in the vote yesterday. His hop to CCS is what actually locked up the vote nicely in the final moments.

What is interesting, then, is why mafia decided to deliver us both squid and CCS's roleflips last night. It's as if to say "we'll pre-empt the CCS vote as a discussion tomorrow by removing it"

I'm sure it had nothing to do with the soft claims.

No Lynch wasn't a viable option for a lot of players (bad posturing, if nothing else), so despite it being "in the running", it wasn't gonna win. And kill-crazy mafiosos would rather go with the lynch bomb than the no lynch.

And as for the matter of Sorian's 'self preservation"..

CCS was at 2, Kawl at 3. I was at 1. He intended to tie it (not really vote a person out.

Alright fine, but what about the shade he was throwing at FEP and myself? Is he scumhunting, or just throwing votes out there?

Squid then throws the vote back onto me. It's bait.

and Sorian nibbles

Three things are dumb in this post. First, no shit I didn't vote for Kawl, he was not on the table for me, he was a non-entity likely heading straight to a replacement. I still had an hour left so while I had to self-pres, I also didn't need to negotiate on that point when the other counter wagon was one vote behind.

Second, you and FEP were not viable at that point, I sat on FEP all day and the shitshow seemed content with no lynch garbage until the pressure of day end actually loomed. You put "self preservation" in quotes so you likely don't understand how its a core concept in the game but I didn't have the luxury of voting off wagon for no reason. I had to take what I could get that actually had a non-random chance of being scum.

Third, I'm not sorry for asking squidy to actually explain the random vote he threw out. So, sure, if that's a scummy nibble, go for it.

Sorian what am I thinking

I don't know what you are thinking. I know what you are. Scum Blarg doesn't actually piece together the coherent thought that's leading you to care about me, nin, and Topo. Your scattered posts wouldn't have a real point if you were scum.

The theory makes some sense and Crimson is the prime example but it works with anyone who was afk during day end. The issue I have is that everything was very close for awhile so even one properly timed vote could have swung it to CCS instead of Kawl so it's not like all hands needed to be on deck anyway.

Crimson is odd, he actually falls in to the common activity=town inactivity=scum rule set but he also drops off a lot regardless after day 1. So I don't actually know what I'm supposed to be expecting with him subbing in and not even caught up on the thread.

His only post was 'hi guys'

There's absolutely nothing to take from that.

Kawl does tend to be inactive when hes scum, but the one game where I nailed him as scum, the inactivity came at a point where a counter claim happened, he was pretty active before this. He wasn't just inactive completely.

You lynched someone who had no opportunity for defense, what if Kawl was the jailer? would you be heralding this play as much as you are currently?

This is why I wasn't lynching Kawl. I would at least like some form of response made to accusations, when its just a spectator, they can be replaced.

Haha people are salty they missed being a scumlyncher. It's not really true that this stuff is all random because he didn't post. I get a lot of lucky day #1 scum picks and I feel like it has to happen because of some intuition from reading the crowds sometimes. You can finger something that feels off for some reason in how people are acting. Kawl wasn't a lone wolf. Even if he never talked, opinions that were informed by knowing he was scum was in the thought cloud. Y'all need to find Mafia Jesus.

Are you surprised with the closeness of the vote that scum couldn't even tie the vote? I mean there were a few people, including yourself, who were adamantly against lynching an inactive.

Like their are 3 possibilities in my mind

1. Scum didn't have people available to vote, so I should look for who was inactive in the last two hours of day 1.
2. Scum were bussing Kawl, did people defend Kawl and then vote for him?
3. Scum were already on CCS

I think a combination of option 1 and 3 are most likely.

How many times at end of day do people (and I include both of us) throw in a quick vote "Think Fast!" to tie it up and try and force people to pick a side.

Playing catch-up:
How about the inability of Scum to swing a close day 1 vote indicates they didn't have enough participants to do anything.

We know Kawl was absent, what if a 2nd scum was absent as well. I think we should lynch Crimson.
I'm glad this is coming back with the squidy discussion. It does lend some credence to this idea of watching Crimson and Bronx. But we've got a day yet.

I didn't need to move my vote.
This, though - after hollering at me for "forcing" you to stay? Which is it?

CCS seems like too easy of a lynch for Nin1000. Nin is good at reading desperate cries of help from townies. I felt CCS tipped my sense as being town. I think Nin should have caught this if they weren't compromised. CCS also seems like a night kill that he would call for, as he can be pretty straight forward and tends to call for the most reasonable line of action ("Lynch the alleged PR")

squidyj is a good player and prob their best skill is being sharp and aggressive, while being rational. engaging in really revealing conflicts. I think this is the kind of Lynch a player like hey-monkey would call for, as they're showing themselves to be pretty conflict prone. People who are irrationally conflict prone can be compensating imo for a vulnerability to conflict, rule of extremes
You asked me why I said you were off-base. nin, like most of us, is as frequently wrong as he is right, and he's either missing some big things this game or he's scumnin trying to push something. I lean to the former because I don't think scumnin would try to push something so easily disproved, so y'know, I have a hard time coming on board nin as a master right now. The CCS vote was relatively easy; CCS was doing some weird things, and there was a strange link to Faddy. It was as valid a vote as several others yesterday. It's just that today we know it was wrong.

As for the other, your shade at me is gendered and baseless.

Do you feel you could lynch Sorian today with a decent chance of finding scum?
Yes. Sorian is making sense, and pushing some good ideas, but it feels to me like a guiding kind of sense, threading around other theories, pushing here and there to nudge, dropping some things that are hard to argue. There's a lack of some genuine quality that comes with town Sorian. It's not a strong read. I'm not certain. But a decent chance? Yes, I think so.

heymonkey, when did CCS Jail you?
I got the notification after day's end that I'd been dragged off to jail, where I had a chat with a Mysterious Figure. CCS revealed himself to me literally two minutes before OM went down. It was funny.

More to come.

.... I hate this forum.

About changing my vote. I definitely felt pressured to keep my vote on CCS since I had said I was going to do that but CCS's last ditch posting did make me think of switching because I was town-reading him. What if I had switched and Kawl was town? IDK what I would have done if the vote got tied, fortunately I didn't need to make that decision.

Faddy

Ok so looking at how the day end played out.

In the last 45 minutes the following people posted and looked engaged
nin
monkey
fep
faddy
sorian
dusk
Darryl
cabot
squidy
ccs
kyan

With around an hour to go with Kawl leading nomad and karkador posted with votes for Sorian and didn't re-engage the thread. They would put Sorian on 3 votes joining with FEP.
Then El Topo lays out his case against CCS which he clearly spent a bit of time on

Did scum try and set up on Sorian but get blown off course by El Topo? If that is true why did kark and nomad not change their votes? Perhaps they didn't feel they could swing it so blatantly.

Kawl, Bronx, Kevyt (Crimson) and Blarg were absent at the deadline.

I don't see the issue. The town read on Kyan is because his vote going to Kawl basically sealed the deal. Now Kyan could have been bussing but it seems a rather elaborate ploy imo.

I'm awake.

Topo, finding town is important as anything else in this game. And our community is worse at it than they are at finding scum. Finding town being a scumtell is probably why. I want to hear if you think the logic is sound or not.

Lot of people awfully sure there's a vig. I mean, there's obviously some other kill role, but why we sure vig?

Beyond that, surprisingly little evolution in conversation since before bed. I am still cool to lynch from yesterday's inactives or CCS train. I still think the timing of Topo's push makes it less likely he is the scum even if he thinks that's too casual. Already explained why.

This is missing the point completely and I don't even know why I'm bothering since it's clear no one is going to listen until we are outside the bounds of the game because there is clearly a grand conspiracy but at the end of the day you lynched someone who had no threads coming out of them. You took a shot in the dark and you got it right. I'm not going to pat you on the back or approve because the odds of lynching at random do mean you'll hit scum sometimes just picking someone but more often you'll hit town. I quote Kark down below but to hit his premise too. Yes, people defended the the vacant spot. Because he is mafia, there may be something to read there but again, the issue is that some vets are also going to defend the spot for no real reason other than the spot not playing regardless of alignment. I find it obnoxious watching the cheering section (continued under Kark's post below).

BTW, when you're this brash, I know I'm onto something.

So you can read above for part of this, to actually talk about what can be gleaned here post lynch. There are some issues with Kawl. Great, he said hi here which means he likely spoke in scum chat at least once. Past that though, you run into the land of assumption. Did he play like you in love boat? Where he purposely didn't play in the main thread but actually had a presence in scum chat. If he did, suddenly it's unclear if he just wanted himself written out of the script early for his lynch bomb to take effect. Then suddenly it doesn't matter, why save him if you can be on the right side of history. What if he was actually gone in the scum thread to? Then you have figure out when scum wrote him off as a lost cause. They clearly did. According to you anyone could have tied it (though they really couldn't have, that would have been scummier than just letting it go but whatever, catering to your point here). Between the thread and the different possible states Kawl could have been in, yeah, actually, it's hard to say whether mafia minded getting lynched or not.

You can't say that then NOT guess at my conclusion

Your waiting to see how I react because you want to see how I treat both nin and Topo. You already think I'm the answer but are hoping you snagged two or three in your guess and want to bring them down with me.

Recurring theme from blarg now. Is this the chorus to a meatier song?

Also, are quote links working for others? They aren't doing anything for me. Topos hyper link was fine but the ones on quotes, no

You're the one pulling for my opinions. There's clearly something there.

I had to log out and log back in for them to work.

Why.
An example for people casually throwing out town reads would e.g. be this post, where it's just one of many random thoughts. More notably though I disliked players town reading me, since that's the laziest town read possible.

Emphasis on eventually.

Nah Topo, you can have town reads from the getgo. It's also useful to air them so you can see how others views compare to your own and think about it from their perspective.

Are we all supposed to be playing cards close to our chest without any real progress made and useful, open discussion?

What is this the Brexit negotiations ?

I'm not really sure what Monkey and Kark are arguing.

You voted a player who never responded. He was scum. There's very little to work from there apart from the advantage of one scum being down.

I never said it's a terrible thing. It's pretty reckless and from my perspective it's bad form.

I think its scummy to take credit for that.

The End.

Don't know what Nomad is doing.

I don't need you to restate why people voted for Kawl. That's not the relevant part.

The relevant part is that Kawl was front-running. Mafia must have been worried about that...unless you want to argue that Mafia doesn't mind getting lynched?

Mafia needed to make decisions - do we let the vote happen to activate the lynch bomb? do we bus Kawl? do we try to save him by finding an alternative to lynch?

The vote ended with 6 Kawl to 5 CCS. Anybody could have tied it. Squidy baited Mafia with an out.
Kawl only won the vote because of a decision that was made by mafia to let him go.

So no, I reject that it was "Luck" in any sense. That's the kind of rhetoric that tries to clean up a crime scene.

BTW, when you're this brash, I know I'm onto something.

Or scum could have been inactive, which isnt a far cry considering how a section of this game has been awol.

well, getgo Town reads are often tinged with bias and thus are practically useless IMHO, so why do them you know

it's good for trying to determine another player's logic.

Why do they townread / scumread this person / what reasons do they give / do those reasons make sense / would a person whos wincon is to kill scum think like this

That's what I think when I see people offering reads.
