I also find C9++ to be way more fun than 2d3 that was used in last year's gif games; the roles are more varied and better built for discussion.
If you're not familiar with either setup, a cool thing about them is that you can start guessing which rule distribution is in place with each role flip. For example, if you see a Serial Killer and a Roleblocker flipping, you can already tell that the remaining Mafia members are either 2 Goons or 1 Goon and 1 Godfather.

. Thanks Pedro. Sad I had to work and couldn't post at EoD. My last post was a "gotta go" gif, but I guess it wasn't blatant enough and I didn't have any time to make it more apparent since I was already late.
It'll be interesting to see how day 2 unfolds. Surprised I got the gut before both Geno and Maol. Not sure why Febe got a pass either unless some were under the assumption that he's a PR to explain his unorthodox playstyle this game.
Regardless this was hella fun and I have to play in the next one. I love 24/24 games. Feel more hectic to begin with on top of being gif only.

I'm glad you had fun, terra! As long as players leave the game feeling like that I am satisfied.
And I don't think this type of game can be had with phases longer than 24hrs, I would notice a drop in activity because there isn't that much to talk about between each phase.

It was a fun time double checking Febe’a stuff lol Pretty stressful. This one is shaping up very fun. Faddy is good at ONUW, much better than me.
There will be a different one used soon enough
My set ups are generally unorthodox as well. I like making games akin to Geno's Heroes and Villains but much less on the bastard side. I was trying to figure out why this thread was so quiet and then I realized that like most of the Mafia community (that are pretty talky at least) are playing in one of the two games or on the replacements list. XD
Anyways I noticed Monkey's earlier hints about being a mason based on how she reacted to Ty4on being NK'd, so I'm willing to believe that claim for now.

Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about gif mafia. On the one hand, it feels like an opportunity to have fun and be experimental and absurd (and in that sense I did have my fun), but in this game in particular it feels like people are fighting against the format and taking it too seriously and getting frustrated as a result?

I kinda loved it, it was really fun trying to condense my thoughts into simple gifs and forcing myself to express something understandable.
Reading got much more gut and following the thread real time, ISOing was almost impossible lol
With some effort tho I could get thru stuff, esp using the old strategy of opening every page on desktop and going thru them.

We tried to get some strategy going with everyone targeting same player, but failed :(
It was kinda fun trying to figure out a strategy and in retrospect the mafia were totally lynchable.

A version of gif mafia I'd love to see implemented is one where people can't repeat gifs other than those used to refer to players posted by Pedro. I thought the town/mafia gif used for reads was super boring to see repeated over and over.

Concerning ONUW, I guess you have to play it a couple times to really get it. The forum format makes it very sluggish which I think robs it from some of the game's appeal which is the quick games (even though it's still 1000 times faster than our mafia games lol), and it's really designed to have a lie hold for ~10 mins max, not 48 hours. I'm building an ONUW bot for Discord which should make ONUW games more like the real life thing, hopefully that will be more fun for people and help them wrap their head around it :P

I love it, I just got tired quickly with so many people. And yes, ISOing is like... impossible here. But it's a good challenge to be concise and clear. (as concise as I can ever be)

My super ambitious N0 stuff was a secret code where dogs were scummy and cats were townie and a plan to split the player-base in half so we could focus on one each, I picked Sawneeks as the splitting point using the glover image lol
I made that dog gif as the first thing D1 combined with spamming I have no dog end of N0 as a start of “this is me lying to the thread” signal :P

I thought that enlarging the game would be a good idea but it turned out to be bothersome to moderate. And while I thought beforehand that changing to C9++ would generate more discussion, it ended up doing that too much and I think the game was hard to follow for some, spectators and players alike.
If I ever run another game like this again, I'd change it to a smaller game (smaller than 2d3 if possible, even), and another thing I'd change is apply penalty for rulebreakers swiftly instead of giving reminders on and on and on, since that hasn't worked. Something like saying upfront "if you break any individual rule twice, you are modkilled/replaced".
