Sorry for slowness, had to read things through and through again, fearing that I get the MODGUN. Also, at work lol, replies will be sporadic at best. I am unable to pinpoint crumbs and jokes and references from the main thread for obvious reasons, I apologize for any unclear references and missing things. Also writing this kind of off the top of my head so who knows if the timeline is 100% correct. Was that enough disclaimers? Oh - a wall of text. Sowwy.
I am a neighborizer, during day I can invite people to a chat that is open during day and night. D1 Vere, D2 Natiko. Both successful. In addition, the chat has been infiltrated by a third person, which is unrelated to my role. They claim to have used their own role to do so. I somewhat town read this person before the infiltration and have continued to do so after it. I don't think it is necessarily my place to speak of the roles of others (IM4 alluded to the infiltration so I want to clear that bit), but if there is a pressing need to do so, do let me know. We are currently in the chat in our costumes.
For the sake of full disclosure and perhaps not to my benefit, I will mention that the chat has jokey references to it being a cult chat. Both in the chat title and in my PM. I am town and I have no reason to believe otherwise. I have not been converted nor have I converted any of the people in the chat. I have not received my item and I am afraid what happens when I receive my item. Please no conversion. This role is apparently based on a similar town neighbourhood from a past game, in which there were jokey cult references as well, but the chat was very much a town chat. Being a Geno game, if this ever starts to feel worrying to you, kill me.
Vere's invitation related to how I was playing on D1. I didn't mind such a random invite, because chats like this can be used as deduction tools as much as town hugboxes. You know, get a person in and see what comes of it. Doesn't matter who it is, as long as they can talk, which Vere can. This being a Geno game, I had little faith that I could create a town hugbox of reasonable certainty with a million different alignments flying around. Honestly, being where I am now? Should've gone for the by-the-book boring approach of fostering a town core of BIG TOWN PEOPLE, but I just wasn't feeling that, wanted to go with the flow. I am not a great leader or a discussion starter anyway.
As a part of trying to establish some trust with Vere, I wanted to use my action on him. The idea of a hidden chat where cool night actions and day moves were planned sounded fun and if he can receive what I was sending out, it'd serve as a great starting point for both the chat and the next day. I asked if he was going to move during night (see next paragraph for why), he said he was not. Good, I thought, and went with it. Fun things are fun, going all hardcore all day every day gets painful real fast.
I've only alluded to my second action publicly and never have fully explained it in detail in any of the threads. I am also a Caroler, I target a person and they receive a list of three names. I do not know the names. One of these names is not town. The target does not receive the list if they move during night. N1 Vere, N2 wee. wee was picked because she was publicly blocked D2. Both apparently failures, since they claim to have received nothing. My shot count has decreased on both nights, though it is not unthinkable to reduce shots even when an action gets blocked. The failed N1 action made me consider the possibility that I sent the list to scum who just chose to withhold it and say nothing. It is a list of three names, it is not that difficult to assume what it could represent. The response of silence is the easy and safe action to take in that case. The failed action does not mean that Vere is scum, of course, and there certainly are many other possible reasons for the failed action - both t and anti-t. I claim no smoking gun, only a possibility to consider. If some townie messed with me, do come clean.
I eventually, during early-mid D2 I believe, read through Vere's posts since he was a topic both during late D1 and early D2. Felt like I should do my due dilligence and should get to know my chat partner so I could figure out if I could trust them, moreso with the three names having disappeared into the void. Read Vere versus Chuggs and Vere versus Fran, and from both I felt Vere came out looking moderately off. Furthermore, his cautiousness in the chat, while not uncharacteristic to him, left me feeling that there was a chance that he is being a bit too reserved.
Time went on and things happened. After a while I told Vere that I thought that there was a chance that he was not town. He considered this a betrayal of sorts and seemed distressed by it. Vere did not want to have much to do with the following discussion. He engaged with my points a little and then chose to leave the thread, so far to not return. I am not certain what to make of this reaction. Like I said to Vere in the chat, I want to solve him. The paranoid, silly me is not helped by getting left alone with all these thoughts of suspicion in my head.
To come back to IM4's more recent posts, I don't think a single post to identify oneself as a costume is unreasonable to expect, especially if there is some chance that he'd consider at least some of the chatters town. One of the points of this modifier was to solve the people behind the costumes and to not use the simplest tool available just feels odd. If you don't want to have anything to do with the chat, it is ok. Open chat, post a single letter, nothing more. Would've showed that you were still alive at least.
The comment that I hopped on Vere constantly in our chat is an exaggeration in my opinion. The scuffle where I stated that I suspected Vere was just 17 posts, made by three people (me, Vere, infiltrator). Many of those posts were mine (8?), in which I explained why I felt the way I did and how I wanted to talk about it. It was a discussion that really only just got started, since Vere left before it went beyond that. The chat before in my opinion was between neutral and slightly positive, ranging from healthy caution to some jokes, reads, and comments about recent events in the main thread.
If Vere feels that I've been unjust in my treatment of him, I apologize. I have meant no ill will and have tried to be as courteous as possible. I greatly dislike the mocking idiot call few posts above - it is just utterly uncalled for. I believe it is only natural to be somewhat suspicious of everyone. If he found my sudden turn, which in my head was not sudden because the starting point of it all in my mind was close to zero, I wished to talk about it. Still do. I won't claim perfect actions and this all again shows that hardcore nonsense might be the way to go all day every day, because otherwise silly gets used against you. Argumentatively and action-wise. And really, it should, it really should. I do not fault him for that, I am far from the easiest person to read, as I've learned over time.
Overall, I think IM4 could be scum. I am not convinced by any means, but there is a fair bit more there than there is with many others. Especially on a day like this when people seem to hesitate to even go for a vote. I hope this has cleared my frame of reference to everyone and at least somewhat explains some things that I've done.
