Hi, my fellow Cruise ship!

I don't mind sharing my real identity with you if you want to (but I think it may be easy to guess anyway) or keep it secret until game ends, I leave it up to you.

We got a good role!! This should be fun. Also the roster is really good so double fun!!

My activity may be not very good mondays and wednesday during the day as I'm in the office. So you will have to carry us those days. Besides those days I usually post semi regulary.

Feel free to share anything here. I like to bounce back reads and talk about the game in a safe enviroment.

This game is going to rock. I hate the pressure of being the doctor, so I’m glad I have a buddy to help make decisions

I’m of two minds whether we should share our identities. There’s no reason not too— but it might be fun to have a kind of mini-game to see if we can guess.

I’ve also been thinking about strategy for posting. I think we shouldn’t identify which of us is posting when (people may guess which is fine) but just both stand behind all the posts from cruise ship as our own posts. Also claims or anything serious like that we should discuss with each other beforehand except in emergency situations.

my in-office days are Tuesday & Thursday, so this works pretty well. I’m in general a low-volume poster. I have a lot of stuff going on IRL & my thinking is mafia is an asynchronous game, as long as you catch up later & make your ten posts it’s ok if you’re not constantly available.

Not many players would call this game Hydra. That's not a term we regulary use in Era. That means that this is someone who has experience in other mafia forums. I know that Natiko and Fanto played one game like this one in MU, so maybe one of them?

Now, Is that useful for catching scum? No, but who cares. I'm having fun with it.

You're someone who's into gatcha. But I'm pretty sure you're not lokiduck. So that narrows it down somewhat..

I have absolutely no helpful reads so far, only guesses at identity. I'm pretty sure that Galleon is 1/2 weemad, and I think Gondola might be Donnie

Someone just mentioned votes in the thread. How do you think we should handle that?

I think that the final vote on the day we should try to reach some sort of agreement but if you want to make some votes during the day and it helps you to pressure people or make reads feel free to do it. I usually vote near the end of the day and don't move it too much but I don't care if you want.

I feel like we'll discuss in here & naturally come to a consensus as to our main suspicions, kind of like how the mafia team always more or less comes to a consensus on the kill. I'm ok with saying we should discuss about the final vote, but I am also fine with you voting for whoever.

I'm 100% in for standing behind all the decisions of the cruise ship team. I might switch votes, but I'm never going to contradict you in the thread or to claim that a vote wasn't me. I just think that's the more fun way to play this!

This galleon suspicion feels like nothing to me. more like galleon not reading carefully & forgetting why they had a weird feeling about houseboat than like galleon being mafia, because why would mafia come up with some elaborate justification to vote a random player at the beginning of D1? Do not care for sub presenting it as some major gotcha

I will answer this later. Now I remember why I had been avoiding costume games. I really have a hard time relating posts to the players when we have a whole new roster. I'm going to force myself to do something that I always say that I should do and never do because I'm lazy: take notes.

Regarding our mini game, now I'm not that sure that you are Ty. Does Ty know that Loki likes gacha games? Mmmmm. And you know that but don't know much about them? That means you are not Vere. Likely not Ael. I'm leaning Haw now.

Got to think about our vote at this point. The trend is towards houseboat, which I feel is whatever for a d1 vote, but somehow our suspicion that houseboat is partially Weemad makes their erratic behavior feel more towny to me

Submarine seems very townie. They may be my top town right now.

I agree with Duck that Houseboat post where they were sus of Sub's early town reads seems bad. Besides that pretty null.

Houseboat, I disliked that post but there is a post (#288) that I kind of like. Most likely the 2 posts were made by different players. I'm kind of null there, maybe scum.

Not liking Galleon. They may be my top scum right now. I think their vote was weird and they pretty much just fixated on that. Not liking it.

Other reads:

I town read Jet Ski, mostly based on #237. That was what I felt reading Houseboat post.

I like Gondola too. Some nice posts lately and engaging with the game.

Yacht seems like coasting.

You were right about me messing up which submarine is which. Agree about Fanto then.

I thought inflatable boat was kyan for some reason, but meanies does sound like something he would say. I feel very sure that Donnie is Gondola, but it could be him & kyan.

I agree about Gondola and houseboat. Also submarine by now, but let's keep an eye there in future days.

If you feel that strongly about galleon let's go along with it, but let me ask you, if we assume we're right that weemad is galleon, does the meta read affect your suspicion? I feel like she often does random stuff in early days as town & doesn't feel the need to explain herself, incurring suspicion.

I think that Wee may be one of them but I think that I'm more sus of the other player. I think their vote was bad, their justification was worse and how now they are keeping it feels sus.

I’m willing to stick with Galleon if you feel strongly about it, especially with submarine also seeming to want to go there. I don’t have string reads myself yet, because I generally feel like there’s not a lot to go on on D1– currently I town read skiff & gondola, outside of the reads you’ve mentioned, and I have no scum reads.

I’m in the office today so around only sporadically. It’s ok if we vote for galleon.

Houseboat does kind of seem scummy, but everything about the so-called “slip” just screams d1 towny mistake, I really don’t want to see a huge majority voting for them bc I think that won’t help with vote analysis later. If they’re voted out I would rather it be as one of several wagons

How do you think we should deal with this? Should we counterclaim? That would be 1 scum down but we are dead tonight.

It's obvious that they are trying to bait a counterclaim but counter claiming later in the game could be difficult.

I'm not sure how to act.

On review, don’t even vote them since we hadn’t established that we’re suspicious. We rest on the galleon vote, use our powers tonight, and tomorrow build up a case since we know 95% houseboat is mafia. We don’t want to do anything that could reveal our role to scum, including suddenly switching on houseboat

My only concern is that Submarine is the obvious kill.

Scum may have a clue that there is a doctor because they tried to get a counter claim. So either they have a strong shot and they may use it to kill Submarine or they are afraid of a doc and would avoid targeting someone who could get protection. As scum I usually like to target middle of the pack to avoid protection and trackers.

But maybe I'm thinking it too much and we should try protecting Submarine.

This is always the problem & the issue is it gets very wifom, because scum is doing the same analysis & may reason that we’re unlikely to protect the most highly town read person for the very reasons you laid out & therefore they might as well try the kill on thar person. So I tend to think it’s best to cut the knot & just protect the person who seems the towniest.

I think that we shouldn't do that. It will be hard to push for a lynch on a doctor if we don't counterclaim. Let's try to see how the days go and how houseboat acts.

If we lynch another townie today and we can't prevent a kill tonight and next night (so, four townies down) I would push D3, even counterclaim after we see some reactions on the push. At that point we should still have time and we should have some connections of houseboat to work with after.

I think we can— houseboat had major suspicion before claiming doctor (the classic under-pressure fake claim) then survived the night? That’s enough for someone to be suspicious without knowing the claim is fake. ie a normal townie who wasn’t the doctor could easily also be suspicious of houseboat under such circumstances.

however I think we should do it in a subtle way, not like gunning for houseboat’s throat all day. Not in a way that seems like we’re tunneling him, because that will make mafia think we’re the doc.

i agree we can reassess counterclaiming on d3

Yeah after doing the table I feel even more suspicious of lifeboat. Worst comes to worse & we get eliminated, we should mention that theory before dying, then it'll be us -> houseboat -> lifeboat. Us getting a little suspicion just now could actually be good in that it makes us less likely to get night killed

How do you feel about just claiming?

We are getting heat and waiting too much may seem like we are faking it.

I'm around so I will try to putting some work and see if we can reverse this but I don't want to wait too long to claim as it could backfire.

It’s so annoying bc more than one person has said today that they find houseboat believable bc no one had countered, but yesterday everyone was saying that the real doc should not counter!!

it might be time bc I feel like it’s torture to watch town going totally down the wrong track, basing everything on hb being town. Especially with this lifeboat situation.

im in the office today, so sporadic, but I’m ok with it if we claim. Absolutely zero info other than doctor role though!
