I saw you asking TWE about the shopkeeper. Well - wonder no longer. Should I trust you, Alexem? I’ve trusted everyone else I invited (well, aside from Nin but it was day one). I’m not as certain on you.

Can't blame you. My votes for Cap and Geno weren't exactly inspiring. Just doing what I can with what I've got - I've never been so hot at larger games with a lot of people to keep track of. That said, I can't say that I've been fully on board with you being one of the quieter players - if there's anyone that I try to look out for, it's potential low fliers.

Still, let's keep things cordial tonight. I don't think there's much point in denying that the shopkeeper role sounds pretty darn neutral, but if you're a pro-town neutral, then I can take that. Can't say I'm overly happy about Ty and Fran paying for nothing in particular, but as long as your goods don't smell of petrol, I'm interested in seeing what you've got on offer.

A couple of questions first - I see there's no list of products yet. Can I take it that you have a pool of items to offer and you get to pick four of them? Would I also be correct in assuming that you're aiming for a target amount of experience?

Just so you know, it's getting late here and I've got a few things to take care of tonight, so I'll be back in the morning and we'll take things from there.

I believe Fran already shared a bit about how it works, but with my role I get four random items each night to offer. I don’t get to know what they do, I don’t get to control what ones are available. I do have the list available though, if you have some interest:

A Treasure Chest
A Roll of Toilet Paper
A Map of Aeredale
A Can of Energy

I don’t see much reason in playing all that coy - you are spot on that I’m a neutral aiming to earn enough exp via sold items to win. I view myself essentially as a gacha machine. So far I’ve revealed that (and more) info to Ty and Fran. I would’ve shared that with Nin potentially if he would’ve bothered to see the invite lol Any interest in an item?

I'm going to have to give that some thought. I can see how all of these could be potentially be useless (the chest and can could be empty, the toilet paper is just that, the map just says 'you are here') like the items that Ty and Fran bought, or even harmful (the chest's a mimic, the energy is toxic).

One thought that's crossed my mind - what does helping you win do for town? It seems to me that if you meet your target and leave, we're a player down and scum are a step closer to reaching parity.

I think that depends on your perspective. Sure, if I win and exit the game statistically that makes it closer between scum and town. Consider the alternative though. Do you think scum will NK me? Realistically even if I haven’t already revealed myself to them on accident they likely have deduced through POE who is the shop keeper or at least have it down to a very small pool.

If scum won’t NK me, that leaves voting me out. Voting me out is in fact worse for town from a math perspective as it allows scum an additional NK all while town wastes a day having to vote out a benign neutral. The only other option is to just ignore me, no one buys my stuff, scum have no reason to NK me, and town have no incentive to vote me out, and.. then I reach end game. I’ve been king maker before. I can do it again. But do you want your chances of winning to be solely in my hands?

At the end of the day I either win, get to be king maker, or one of town/scum have to be scared enough to kill me knowing it’s the inefficient move and puts them in a weaker position. I much prefer the option where I just continue to be a gacha machine and then exit without dramatics.

OK, I've been giving this some thought today. I'll be blunt - from playing with you before, I don't doubt for a moment that you're willing to play kingmaker if it comes down to that. Given the claims, I don't think it's going to be long before the rest of town puts the pieces together and works out that you're the shopkeeper even if I don't name you, so unless people start to think that you're an active threat, I don't think there's much chance of you getting voted out unless people think you're trying to be too evasive.

With all that in mind, I'm willing to take a chance on an item. However, seeing as Ty and Fran's items weren't so hot and since we've only booted one meanie so far and scum have less work to do to reach parity at the moment, my offer's going to be small so that you don't bounce from the game too soon. If you're going to go, I'd rather that was later in the game after we've got rid of another mafioso or two.

I have a really far distance to go from my goal if I’m to be blunt in return. I didn’t get anything exchanged N1, and it’s probably pretty obvious but no XP earned via the normal methods count. Is there any chance you’d be willing to do 3 XP? I’d still be I would guess ~3 more exchanges away from exiting if so (maybe 2 if someone is feeling especially generous). I don’t know what all you may be accruing XP for though and frankly don’t need to. I simply had to make my plea, but should that be a no go I will accept 2 XP still and then can will be yours. May its caffeine serve you well.

Either way, best of luck. You’re welcome to reveal whatever you would like from this chat though I kindly ask you not reveal my name if at all possible as I will claim openly in the thread should it ever become a loud enough topic/I receive enough pressure.

My final offer is 2 XP if that's OK. I don't think you're at risk of getting booted, but I'd still feel better if you remained in the game until at least one more scum player gets caught. At this point in the game, there are going to be more players who have no further need for more XP and won't mind handing over what they've got. My advice would be to work through the claims and approach players who are likely to have used their 6 XP shots and will have points to spare. They'll be the ones to get you over the line.

In return, I agree not to name you. It's not something that I was planning to do if I'm honest, and as the claims increasingly line up, I don't think it'll take the room long to work it out now anyway. I happened to note that Fran referred to you as 'him' yesterday, so although Aeleus was already off the table, I think keen-eyed players will have mentally crossed out Melon as well.

I accept your terms, and I do agree. I don’t think it’s too hard to puzzle out it’s me. Part of why I chose you was that you didn’t seem certain who the shopkeeper was. I’ve noticed less people asking about it so I presume more have figured it out than not.
