Kyan and Darryl are both late enough and set momentum in such a way where bussing doesn't make sense. Everyone else could theoretically work but the real sweet spot is with Blarg, squidy, and Dusk. Obviously squidy was town but I would only expect one person in here at most. I'm only ignoring Blarg for now because he hasn't raised any of the usual alarm bells aside from being a bit too quiet but we're also getting towards that time of night.

cabot

Why.
I wasn't for voting for a guy w
Yeah, we didn't know about squidy's vote flipping. Neither of us could make sense of that.

Not doubling back. Seemed less important it and it is something unverifiable. But CCS and I had a good convo and I didn't want his contributions to die on the vine. GODSPEED TO THE AFTERLIFE, FRIEND. I'm back at the computer for a skype meeting so I'll look to see if he had any more reads I forgot.

Now you're talking. I think these people are all worth looking at, but I'm less concerned with nin and Faddy and more with Topo, who I wasn't as suspicious of yesterday, and Sorian.

cabot's vote on kark was also an outlier and worth considering. Weird outlier. Uncabotlike behavior for me.

I said before, I was pretty happy with my Kark vote, and I wasn't particularly happy with CCS or Kawl. Kawl was principle, I don't like voting for pure inactives, replacements exist. CCS i was town reading, but his play at the end was not unlike his neutral revelation in the last game

I'm supposed to tell cabot to "use the force." I don't know why that would be proof, though CCS said it's up to cabot to cooperate, but if he (cabot) chose to, he would know. It was pretty cryptic.

I looked back over our chat and I think I already mentioned all the people we discussed.

Yeah I understand this reference. I believe you were jailed.

I'd still be for Kark personally, he's not done a silly gambit yet, he's been relatively quiet and his vote along with Sparks brought Kawl from 3-1 in the lead to 3-3 with Sorian.

cabot

Why.
I didn't really think about how convenient Topo's case on CCS was, but it was fairly in depth. It seemed a little crazy for a scum to whip that up out of nowhere.

I was also heavily town reading him the rest of the phase.

cabot

Why.
I'm very down on Sorian, heymonkey and cabot.

Sorian has a couple of bites at saving Kawl, pushing CCS. It doesn't look good imo
heymonkey specifically called out my placed vote on CCS wondering aloud if I would move my vote since I didn't seem to be fully committed to killing CCS. Essentially pressurising me to keep my vote or possibly face a late train.
cabot was again railing against Kawl votes although never piled onto CCS perhaps because he already announced he was busy at the deadline and it would have been so naked if it didn't come off.

Sitting in no man's land with Kark is probably the least optimal outcome if I was scum. I was busy and posting on mobile wasn't elegant, but I had time to at least do a bus on Kawl to look good or to try and get close to a tie/breakaway with CeeCee.

I was around as the votes were building, I just wasn't gonna vote a guy with one post because i just don't like doing that, and CCS reached the point where his threats felt like scummy behaviour so I wouldn't save him.

I forgot Kark was here. He did go into an extreme quiet state at this point.

cabot

Why.
That's fair, Faddy. FWIW, I don't suspect you now after a) CCS's flip and b) CCS himself didn't suspect you and I know he knows you better than I. I'm inclined to trust his analysis here.

Seems a lot of stock based on nothing but a day 1 read. Why can't Faddy be a scum pocketing CCS?

cabot

Why.
Oh, huh. I thought I spoke more for it but I had to go back further than expected. I think "sat on" was what we said in chat but I'm on mobile. Regardless, I'm not sorry and it wasn't a shot in the dark. More grounded in meta than I like but it gave us a scum. And I don't understand why people would be against lynching inactives when we KNOW that's a used scum strategy. Certainly better than a RNG vote, a no lynch, or meta stuff about how you "feel" someone is playing. I did speak to that and I will stick to it.

His only post was 'hi guys'

There's absolutely nothing to take from that.

Kawl does tend to be inactive when hes scum, but the one game where I nailed him as scum, the inactivity came at a point where a counter claim happened, he was pretty active before this. He wasn't just inactive completely.

You lynched someone who had no opportunity for defense, what if Kawl was the jailer? would you be heralding this play as much as you are currently?

This is why I wasn't lynching Kawl. I would at least like some form of response made to accusations, when its just a spectator, they can be replaced.

cabot

Why.
A large group don't agree with me and here we are.

Fair enough, but it was a lucky shot. No more.

Blarg's completely disconnection from the game and focus on outside things is a whole new Blarg for me and I don't feel great about it.

I didn't really think about how convenient Topo's case on CCS was, but it was fairly in depth. It seemed a little crazy for a scum to whip that up out of nowhere.
I agree with this... but looking back, did he really comment on anyone else, or just CCS? At that point it could easily be a scum choosing someone to tunnel to look busy.
Would like to hear from Bronx and Crimson.
Would like to hear from about half the goddamned game.

Seems a lot of stock based on nothing but a day 1 read. Why can't Faddy be a scum pocketing CCS?
Because I don't have much reason to feel otherwise right now. Faddy didn't like my responses, but I like his today as well, so I don't see much reason to suspect him at this moment.

You lynched someone who had no opportunity for defense
Here's where we disagree. He had opportunity. Look, I don't think everyone should be putting up outrageous post numbers, but I think they need to be present or they need to let the gamerunner know they can't be so that can be taken into account. On that same tip, Bronx needs to show up soon. I don't like fully unknowns. I have strong feelings about it. I think it throws off the game and yes, when there's no other clear path, I will take that one, because someone who is simply not there is a wildcard. Same as people will vote out or NK replacements. I'm not gonna keep beating this into the ground. I stand by the move, which is why I didn't change my vote. I looked at other options and felt satisfied where I was. All that is transparent thinking in the thread.

monkey, do you feel you needed to show proof of being jailed?
Why did you feel you had to mention that?
Needed? Nah. I reported out. CCS was dead, he was town, and he had interesting things to say. I brought them back. Not all are super relevant. Not all data ever is. But I'd rather be thorough now than mentions something later and have someone blow it up and accuse me of lying or making up convenient details or whatever.

This is not a whole new Blarg. This is in the playbook. I can mail you a copy if you need it.

cabot

Just seemed needless, i'd only use the proof if someone decided to counter claim you.

Which would be some impressive amounts of lying required, as the chat is confirmed in the role PM.

There's no tangible benefit to me with confirming that proof.

And the fact that you got jailed monkey sure is neat but i don't think we can gather anything from it can we? Please answer if you can.
I doubt I would have mentioned it had CCS not been one of the NKs, or I would have at least mightily trimmed down my reportage. But since he died and is confirmed town, I find his analysis useful, especially in a game with a lower number of active players.

This is not a whole new Blarg. This is in the playbook. I can mail you a copy if you need it.
Y'all have played with him more than I have. I don't doubt it, it's just that I haven't seen it.

I'll be out most of this RL day with meetings (so many meetings) and podcast tonight, so I'll stop clogging up the thread. :) Curious as to who turns up today and how they read the end of d1.

I would have reported as well, not knowing how long Cabot would be alive. Actually, kind of a town thing. Scum might have felt like they could just keep Cabot around until they could use him to confirm. But then it's not really alignment indicative being jailed.

There is a post timer.. like 5-10 seconds only though

cabot

Why.
i mean I guess my point is more would it really be necessary to post it?

You're either gonna be counter claimed or not.

Counter claimer has a fair amount of lies to create and will no doubt have a thunderdome situation made.

Seems like a pointless exercise overall I guess.

I will snarkily point out, my dear friend, that I'd guess at least 10% of the reason you even care about this at all is that there isn't much happening in the game.

Semi-snarky.

I'm so tired. I'm waiting for my advisor because I got a chapter accepted for a book and she isn't here and I need guidance and am between meetings and want to scream. I hope everyone else's day is going rather more smoothly.

On this point, Topo's D1 performance was pretty much like every other, and bar one time he was neutral, he was Town every time.

Did he sort of only go at CCS? yes, but he sort of just moaned the rest of the time, which is the Topo I know and maybe love.

Still haven't had the chance to read all of day 1 from the beginning, but at least caught up on all the end of day stuff.

Monkey's initially votes Kawl, then Blarg and Squidy give it a bit more momentum.

Then Pandas, Kark and Nomadic jump on Sorian, creating a counter train.

Topo posts an analysis on CCS, which Nin and Sorian then jump on

So three trains with CCS having a slight lead.

Dusk and Darryl jump onto Kawl giving him the lead

Squidy flips to Kark, CCS and Kyan jump on Kawl. Squidy does a bit more vote hopping, but he's confirmed anyway.

Sorian argues against the Kawl lynch, as does Darryl, but Darryl stays voting Kawl.

I'm going to assume that scum didn't go into the lynch with the intention of bussing, lynch bomb or not, it's still day 1. Monkey's vote was non-committal enough that maybe it wasn't intended to start a train, but Blarg and Squidy solidified that lynch as a possibility. Then Dusk and Darryl break the tie.

So just going by that, I would lean town on Blarg, Dusk and Darryl. Darryl's end of day push is odd, but if he really wanted to swing the lynch he could have done by flipping his vote. If there were any late train bus votes on Kawl, Kyan would fit. Sorian's play there kind of reminds me of early Love Boat 2.

cabot

Why.
I'd agree with Dusk and Darryl.

I also think the possibility of a Kyan late bus is there, but he's still seeming alright and not raising red flags otherwise.

I disagree with Blarg, It was early enough that I wouldn't count it as alignment indicative.

Disagree on Sorian from the perspective of he seems to have the exact same reasoning I did for not voting Kawl.

Monkey proof thing just isnt how I'd play it, and like nin I could see doing it to get more town points. I'm still juggling the idea that scum monkey started an unintended bus on her team mate but in the end rode it out to gain some cred.

The proof thing aligns with that a bit more. It's not a great case though. I'd rather move on.

What's your read on Kark?

flatearthpandas

Kark is playing similar to Love Boat 2, where he basically coasted and then thought up a "gambit" excuse later. Without the courtesy of a "gambit."

Yeah, Kark's contributions basically amount to throwing a bit of shade on Sorian. Not really engaging with anything else.

I don't feel like quoting and cropping. How does Kyan fit as a late bus realistically? He could have just voted CCS instead and solved the whole issue.

You can stand by the move, doesn't change the fact it was luck that Kawl was scum.

So you're proposing that 15 people voted at random, and as luck would have it, the majority landed on scum. That would be "luck".

I think the rest of your reasoning is sound, but why would BFrryl argue against the Kawl lynch multiple times without moving off of it? Hoping to convince others to save it while perhaps also saying what the hell, at least it's a lynch bomb and he is on the right side of history, as it were, for people who only go back and look at the votes.

where did I "argue against the kawl lynch multiple times"

karkador

Even if squid was alive right now and unflipped, I wouldn't vote for him. He was clearly testing the see-saw. On one end was Kawl, on the other was CCS.

Squid made a huge difference in the vote yesterday. His hop to CCS is what actually locked up the vote nicely in the final moments.

Why not actually vote Sorian? The Sorian vote had some traction for a bit. It might have come back. We also get these:

But he never shifts. What indicated to him that the lynch was in scum's hands or that we didn't catch scum? The reason I'm not particularly scum-reading it is that he was wrong and it would be super obvious unless people started moving votes - and he didn't - but it's weird.

there was 1-2 minutes left on the clock when I made these posts bruv, this wasn't an attempt to swing the votes. it was chitchat before the axe swung. my logic for why we weren't gonna hit scum is pretty straight forward, we has two candidates with equal votes and no dirt on either. if scum have 3-4 votes, scum could easily pick their ideal candidate and not have it be damning. sorry I didn't think we were gonna hit scum day #1 like this but you're welcome for doing it

No Lynch wasn't a viable option for a lot of players (bad posturing, if nothing else), so despite it being "in the running", it wasn't gonna win. And kill-crazy mafiosos would rather go with the lynch bomb than the no lynch.

And as for the matter of Sorian's 'self preservation"..

I don't like that Faddy is on the vote too but CCS actually feels like a valid and useful vote unlike Kawl and I'm clearly not voting for myself.

Past that it's really anyone's race. I'm still looking at FEP and Faddy.

I'll be here to work things out tonight but
is it just me or does every game involving kark and sorian become kark vs sorian

I think this is one of the first times I'm not hot on Sorian. idk, maybe I feel like day 1 was just too easy. kark is thinking too mastermindedly when the CCS Lynch is prolly them trying to lynch a PR, the squidyj is a plausible lynch made out of a composite of potential threat to scum vs. likelihood of being capable of day lynched vs. unlikeliness that anyone would waste a PR on them.

my intuition tells me that remaining scum is somewhere in the realm of nin1000, hey_monkey, El topo. possibly add Cabot in there for good taste
