Did you seriously not read anything I said about Verelios? I gave a reasoning and argued with him for like an hour. Why Verelios? And why did you choose Splinter?
Most of your votes have been sent out with no real rhyme or reason
You quoted a post from hers which could be inferred as a reason but you don't really comment on it much other than a vote
Again, just thrown out there.
And no real reason here for choosing one over the other.
Curious.
The vote tool is so weird now, it wasn't exactly built for this. Already says D3 lol.
Did you seriously not read anything I said about Verelios? I gave a reasoning and argued with him for like an hour.
I never voted for him before the event started, I honestly don't know what you are seeing. Not the first time you voted for him before the event started. You voted for Donna and then voted for him with no real interaction.

I still don't know what you are talking about on Verelios. For Donna it was because she said she was "solo", implying 3rd party. Mostly a joke vote as a respond to a joke. For the record, you can go to page 4, do a ctrl + f, type in geno and then look through pages 4 - 6, it won't take long.
Good call Stuart. Geno is probably scum

I thought it was pretty obvious that she made a joke. But anyway, early day 1 votes don't need justification, Fireblend voted Include for no reason, don't see you questioning him.I'm not sure how I feel about how quickly you changed your vote from Terra to Geno but whatever.
Considering how many people jumped on her thinking it was a soft claim neutral rather than an obvious joke, I wasn't sure if it was a serious vote or not.

So happy to finally be playing a game together :'D
Okay, that's a massive majority for no-lynch. Which I can understand tbh. Splinter made a solid point about not wanting to vote Melon and I wouldn't want to vote him aswell, because of that. Is it worth looking into the people that wanted to vote on of the two?

I'm not deflecting, I'm just curious.Because this was an obvious Joke vote.
Interesting deflection though.
I mainly questioned you because when I saw your vote "Back to Verelios" above, my first thought was that I don't remember seeing any reason for any vote now or previously.
This is a 50 player game, there isn't just 1 scum team out there, if 1 scum team started this then Splinter or Melon could be scum. There isn't enough evidence to prove it was town vs town. It could very well be scum vs scum or scum vs town.If we were to assume it was a Scum power that started the event then it's likely that not only was it a town vs town situation but people on one of them is scum. So possibly in otherwords it may be worth looking at those votes.

You can also look at the later votes for Melon or Splinter. I mean votes when no-lynch was a certainty, those are easy votes for scum I guess.
Looking at you now Faddy.
I admit it. I wanted to kill Splinter as revenge for Buck Bumble.
Yes, a 50 player game needs a lot of deaths, an easy way to achieve that is by having multiple scum groups. Rather than say have a team of 15 people they are split in teams of 6. I'm pretty this is most likely what's happening here. Are you saying that there may be multiple smaller groups of scum that are against each other or something? Because that's what it sounds like (and would be news to me in any case)
I took Donna's comment to mean she isn't in a private chat. I don't think it was a joke or a slip, and the people that jumped on it looked extremely opportunistic, overexcited even. Your vote especially.I still don't know what you are talking about on Verelios. For Donna it was because she said she was "solo", implying 3rd party. Mostly a joke vote as a respond to a joke.

Sorry bout that.
I don't remember Buck Bumble except for feeling very bitter towards Faddy at the end of it. I'm not surprised he'd try to kill me, it's part of why I suspected him of causing the thunderdome.
Hey I don’t always roll mafia. Straight town for the first five seasons!
Yeah with 50 people do we have enough information to lynch day 1?
So here are Zipped's first two posts of the game. He posits one thing then fifteen minutes later or so decides he was wrong with no in thread discussion occurring. Sure, that can happen I suppose.I’ve thought about it while in the shower.
And I think voting no lynch is impossible in our current climate. With a town of 50 this might possibly be the largest scum team we have ever seen. The likes of which are truly unparalleled.
So despite the large town we likely have the same % chance of hitting scum as a normal game. We have to start thinking of this as a normal game, with our normal quirks, not some end all be all. #mafiashowerthoughts
More Lynch vs. No Lynch discussion, mainly meandering though.Terraforce were you in season 1? It is literally the only game where I had a Day 1 no lynch.
as for your other meta votes lylo theorizing, I am reasonably sure that we can't try to game the system at this point. 50 people. and it looks like after today there will be during the day actions that I'm betting will hurt...
This game has promised everything, but unless after our death we get taken to an ethereal plane for secret wars in the after life (similar to that vacation spot with the volcano) I think we just have the one life.
join
Pops in (late) to join the event and realize he missed it. More nothingness other than being eager to join which is probably NAI.holy shit! I didn't even realize my thread was behind by an hour! stupid me. I've got to go look at that event.
Polite fluff.that game was crazy!! minigames in my mafia? its more likely than you think...
Seriously, I like that mechanic and it was day 1 so we all had a chance to participate!
no from what I understand Verelios had no idea who the three vote winner were going to vote. With the added provision that no talking outside of the event meant that even if they had an outside board there was no collusion. Just bad luck.
he did however give bladesymphony a bonus though.
none of the vote winners would have chosen themselves, because even if they would have won they would have lost, so Verelios had to bet that one of two best of voters would chose a different voter.
Verelios that vote makes no sense unless you wanted to ensure that a specific person got the benefit.
said it way better than I did.
So this amounts to Zipped's greatest contribution this game. He does engage with this topic, probing at Vere as to why the Blade vote and briefly touching on some of those that joined without previously contributing to the thread. What caught my eye is that he votes Vere primarily for giving the item to Blade; however, he does not once bother to engage with the discussion that has already been occurring at this point as to why Vere voted Blade (confusion, at least supposedly) despite starting out the post implying he believes Vere's confusion ("bad luck").well it benefits scum to be lurking day 1, Standard playbook is medium posting but constant thread watching. Helps with trains and swerves. So with any event it makes sense to just load it up.
But again no collusion, due to the event rules.
vote:verelios
It makes more sense to vote verelios and get them in here to discuss the whys of their play.
This is fine, just talking to Saw.Read the event, and let us know what you think. That and general reads from now on will get you up to speed
What kind of insanity did I wake up to?
Almost every time something like this has happened in a game I played in, it was town V Town.
Except I think that one time like what gorlak said.
Here Zipped shows back up, responds to the event occurring, and then just..fades away again. All without really leaving much of an impression.Eh
vote: no lynch

Btw @Sorian I asked earlier but if voting splinter, how should we vote for him since his OM username is Splinter but his signup name is *Splinter.
I'm inclined to look at one of the players who was in the event yesterday but has otherwise been quiet. It seems like convenient busy work - something that gets you noticed, but able to drift back into the background afterwards. Like Terraforce, Rynam and NeckToChicken are the ones who are really sticking out for me. I'll accept time zones could be at play, though, so I'll allow some time for them to have their say before I commit to a vote.
Sorry, my wording could have been better there - I meant that I felt the same way as Terraforce did about Rynam and NeckToChicken. Terra looks OK to me so far.Terraforce? He doesn't look to be in the background to me?
Oh so now No Lynch is all cool and good....
Let's take this opportunity for revenge
Vote: Splinter
These made me laugh. I appreciate you, Faddy. We aren't finding out by no lynching
Also same. But some people just fling votes to try to force reaction and/or conversation without actually initiating much conversation themselves and I think the reactions were probably that. Worth watching folks who do that imho. This is pretty much what I meant. No other forum or private chat, just the main game thread.
I personally thought it was obvious considering the post I responded to so it surprised me seeing people jump on that.
It was late for me so I went to bed, sorry.
Anyways, like I said I want to establish a baseline for how people feel about the mechanic, considering that it lets us publicly and unilaterally decide to lynch somebody. It’s not really something I can “follow up” on as it were, especially with how few people actually seem interested in sharing thoughts on the mechanic. That being said, I still fail to see how qualifies as fluff considering that the mechanic is core enough to the game to have its own section in the rules, with clearly defined rules as to how it works. It’s not like, say, Monopoly mafia and speculating on how the board and pieces function D1 with nothing to go on. And it’s 100% more interesting to me than the lynch vs no lynch discussion that’s dominated so much of today.
Did you also think death was a possibility from the event? I was having trouble following this discussion ‘till I saw that Geno was the one who brought up the penalty being modkill. In general it’s hard to follow since you say you didn’t quite understand.
After some more fluff he has these two posts that don't really say anything significant. As with Apollo's read on CoolesSpot, Monkey, and Faddy, just a lot of back and forth with no clear objective, and nothing seems decided in the end.You open the list, see a few votes for me and then a ton for Blade. I question the need for panic to begin with, but in a scenario where someone does happen to be panicked I feel I can see just jumping on Blade. The sticking point is definitely the specific citing of Blade’s vote count. I’m inclined to believe Verelios, but it’s tricky.
With this post, my conclusion is that his vote on Kyan are really the only notable things I've seen Apollo do all day. Everything else has fluff, defending himself, or the dayvig mechanics talk which also comes across as fluff. So after my reread I feel even less confident in him. Even his out for Kyan seems like an easy out since he mainly harps on Kyan joke voting himself when if you seriously want to make up something after the fact, there is more to go off of for voting Kyan than just that. Feels like Apollo is just here to maintain a presence but really isn't into the game like he should be, which I'd say is pretty scummy in itself. Are you voting me for being a “light presence” or because I’ve pursued the ITA angle? I recognize that the former is an issue and I stand by my position on the latter. My read on the Verelios situation is, as I said, tricky. I imagine myself in that position and I could see naming Blade based on having a bunch of votes at the top of the list, later learning it was 9 votes after calming down, and then conflating the two. But as others say that isn’t exactly alignment indicative. I do legitimately think the situation is an interesting one, but I don’t think there’s much to glean from it with our current information.
My vote is still on Kyan because that initial self vote was... not a good way to hop into the game considering the pages of discussion there were up to that point. Our interactions during and after the event were mildly humorous and honestly pretty confusing. Kyan seems to legitimately have wanted the penalty? Idk how I should be reading that. The most I can remember of playing with Kyanrute is playing with his one day imposter in Power Rangers which.... wasn’t actually him.
We can start to worry about Grizzly if he survives N2 this time. The other person I'm concerned with so far is Grizzly. I see some suspicion on Geno (so many G names here lol) but that pings me less; I can see reasons to townread his insistence on slaughtering people, even if I don't agree with it. I'll see how he develops.
...What? I wasn't in either event. And the day as a whole I haven't been that quiet. Last night I was for personal reasons, but my first post was soon after I woke up. Though I find it interesting that you of all people call me out when I'm in the upper half of players by post when you're much closer to the bottom half based on your posting. It can hardly be spun as "convenient" when I've been here most of the day barring last night (EST). I also don't recall much of in depth thoughts or responsive posts from you. Unless you follow up here, this just looks performative, my dude.*moves Monkey out of my town reads
Why should I wait to follow up on someone I think was pushing obvious mislynch bait? Because he’s roleblocked? Meh.We can start to worry about Grizzly if he survives N2 this time.
A no Lynch? I can feel sorian's disappointment from here. :(
I'm in a meeting at work all day so I'll be here around 2 hours before day end. Not feeling anyone at the moment outside of some folks I maybe wouldn't get rid of yet.
Can I ask those of you who voted no Lynch and did not provide a reason as to why you trust both melon and splinter enough to let them live? Thanks
I didn't really get an especially strong read from either of them, but neither stuck out as being worth lynching at the present moment. That was a gut instinct, though. Honestly, I was more concerned by the potential motivations of an early thunderdome. Can I ask those of you who voted no Lynch and did not provide a reason as to why you trust both melon and splinter enough to let them live?
Unless you follow up here, this just looks performative, my dude.
Exactly.
And this is partly why I like @Gorlak's post. The obvious thing is that one of the people in the battle initiated the Thunderdome. I think melon is more likely to have initiated it and seemed ready to fight Splinter but never really goes as far as scum reading him. Therefore pressuring Melon, who was in the thread, to give more info is a good play.
Instead no one else really does anything and we end up with a no lynch and whatever happened with the Thunderdome is wasted.
This answer? It's my playstyle, not alignment tied *shrug*.
Quoting this for the above post.I think your Gorlak read is bad and I'm giving Grizzly the benefit of the doubt. I liked his answer when I questioned him about his play.
Noted. Think I already addressed this in my last.I think your Gorlak read is bad and I'm giving Grizzly the benefit of the doubt. I liked his answer when I questioned him about his play.
This is... um... Interesting. Which one's Namor? I was given the entire early 90's run of Namor because someone was dunking on me for liking Aquaman. I want to vote to kill Namor.
I noticed you & promise to vote for you as soon as we're able to let you know you were noticed!
I had a genuine childhood fear of Tina Turner after seeing bits of Tommy at too young of an age. Leaning towards melon here for that .GIF alone.
Yeah... I'm really not sure, either. I'm about to head to bed & am contemplating just staying out of this. Except Melon outed herself as Namor & it's looking really tempting.
I’m going to bed but will hopefully be up in enough time to read what I missed & change the vote accordingly. ... & since Melon appears to be deliberately baiting me...
Vote: Splinter
Floundered around and landed on voting Splinter because Melon was "baiting" him? Then backpedaled, and explicitly mentions not wanting to show on the record for a no lynch. Why would you be so concerned about that? She may have an item or something. She outed herself as Namor when I stated I personally want to kill Namor, & called me a cold-footed hypocrite for contemplating sitting this vote out. I feel she wants me to vote her out & I don’t know why.
That said, I don’t want to vote either of you out, but don’t want to have a No Kill staining my record, so I abstain.
Unvote: Splinter
If only there was a third option...Vote: Splinter
I like melon more so far due to higher activity ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Truth be told, I'm not really feeling a strong reason to go for either. Good job Thanos for not making it easy on us.
I don't think there's necessarily bad intentions here, but if melon is scum then this has to be one of the easiest pockets in Mafiera history. Such weak reasoning.Said that already but since we can't know for sure who's scum and who's not on Day 1, the choice seems hard for me, but melonrabbit defended me at the beginning so I don't feel like voting for her. Would've said in no lynch but it doesn't seem to be the best thing to vote for, so.....

Did you seriously expect someone else to do the leg work for you and because they didn't you just tossed your hands up and said fuck it?Since my re-read buddy never came through @heymonkey I do feel like Melon has been more active in conversations and across the board, even though she came at me out of left field earlier. As for Splinter, my memory is a lot more vague. I'm kind of comfortable leaving my vote here for now.

Hopefully my vote doesn't go wonky this time
Another person dropping a vote with no explanation.PLaying this thunderdome primarily by trying to figure out if one or both must be scum or trying to pin it on one of the players seems like a bundle of threads so lacking in any kind of evidence or even grounded logic thats it seems like its almost certain to lead to bad decisions,
vote for whoever you think should be lynched, or vote no lynch (in this instance i cant really see that much of a downside to it) based on how you read the players.
in my case,

I guess you left a tiny explanation of it being gut. The issue being how can it be a gut call, yet also one that you don't have any strong feelings for. Isn't that the point of a gut call that you feel more apt to go one direction than the other?I assume it's a mechanic, and we'll see more thunder dome situations. Just my gut. I don't imagine a player just deciding to use their power randomly on Day 1.
I'm still not sure if I fully understand what happened in the earlier event, but I don't think Verelios comes off as scummy. Beyond that, much of the discussion hasn't left an impression on me yet. Sorting through the fluff and meaningful interactions has been a little overwhelming.

Melon was strong and Splinter has seen how strong she is, thats why he has ulped his game ( even thought his one liners can get a bit boring).

They're both some of my higher town reads and I stated that a couple times previously. Melon's argument with Terra felt genuine, not forced. She has been participating and looking to solve. Splinter has been less active, but he has pointed out a few items that most had overlooked which to me shows that he is actively looking to solve as well. Combine that with my feeling that this was a random event and the fact that I wouldn't be here for the end of it all added up to good reasons to not kill one of my stronger town reads.A no Lynch? Can I ask those of you who voted no Lynch and did not provide a reason as to why you trust both melon and splinter enough to let them live? Thanks
Why is that obvious? I feel like the previous times I've seen a thunderdome it is made clear someone (or multiple someones) will be dying. This explicitly allowed for no lynches and a tie resulted in both living as opposed to both dying. I find it much more likely this was a random event than a power - especially with it being announced as an event.Exactly.

"bad" votes do not exist on Day 1. There is little to nothing to go by.
Even less in a game of 50 players.
With the thunderdome intact i chose to random my vote, there is nothing "garbage" about it, just because you do not agree with the reasoning does not make it less important than your vote.

Going to bed, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do, like lynch town
RNG will do that sometimes. What would the point of it be as a power if no lynch is an option? If melon initiated it why go for a no lynch?I'm going to take issue with the bold. There are 50 players in the game, a very low chance for 2 people who have been closesly linked all game to get randomly put into a thunderdome.
At least you have some vague reasoning, even if you forgot some of it. Better than others at least. flipped a coin. probably two townies but wanted to see a flipWell, why did you vote for Melon over Splinter?
Posting this right after voting for Melon during an event where we can only vote for two people seems weird. Like you're sure splinter is town (since you say don't do anything I wouldn't do after you just voted for Melon).
So why did you vote for Melon over Splinter?
I was with you until you got to this. This is pushing it. Yeah, the event could have been random, but the chances RNG just happened to pick melon + Splinter are so low that I can't even understand why you'd be so stubborn on that point.RNG will do that sometimes. What would the point of it be as a power if no lynch is an option? If melon initiated it why go for a no lynch?
So, all that being said.. @Zippedpinhead what are your thoughts on this game outside of the few listed above? Throw some reads out there.

Geno everyone seems to be voting for
Tell me a reasonable explanation then. What kind of power is that if everyone can just no lynch? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but again all of the ones I can recall someone had to die, there was no getting out of it. Why those two players when clearly there wasn't much willingness to lynch them? Unless it's a scum power and they were hit with the stupid stick and didn't think about the likely outcome of pitting two players in good standing against each other.I was with you until you got to this. This is pushing it. Yeah, the event could have been random, but the chances RNG just happened to pick melon + Splinter are so low that I can't even understand why you'd be so stubborn on that point.

Why those two players when clearly there wasn't much willingness to lynch them? Unless it's a scum power and they were hit with the stupid stick and didn't think about the likely outcome of pitting two players in good standing against each other.
I mean it's not hard to see why. It would be a pretty weak Gladiator for there to be such an easy method to just flat out ignore the ability. Sorian also specifically called it an "event." I won't rule the possibility of it being a player controlled ability, but currently I'm not sure I have enough reason to believe that it is one.I was with you until you got to this. This is pushing it. Yeah, the event could have been random, but the chances RNG just happened to pick melon + Splinter are so low that I can't even understand why you'd be so stubborn on that point.
In the mini event two peopl voted geno, I found that incredibly weird, but was not sure how to phrase it.Only one person has voted for him? See the vote tool.
Thanks for taking the time to follow up. How many scum players do you think were in the event out of curiosity? If you had to guess.my thoughts on this game outside of my read on the verelios situation and literally waking up to an insane day within a day?
its hard to follow a game with 50 people.
being more serious, I like Faddy, Melonrabbit, Stuart444, grizzly, *Splinter, HeyMonkey and Kyanrute. I really did not want either Melonrabbit or *Splinter to die during that thunderdome so I voted accordingly once I got my bearings. I'm CDT, so my view of that event was the 5 minutes between exercising and shower. I skimmed what it was, saw Gorlak's post and tried to get a vote in to matter.
as far as players I don't like? verelios, even with the "confusion" i find the whole play and defense scummy. My vote before the mini-day event was on Verelios and I am debating (internally) whether to place it back on Verelios.
I also think Bladesymphony was odd in the event results. but not as much as verelios. Scum verelios could give a benefit to a town player and then later on after shady stuff goes down say "bladesymphony never told us his gift, maybe they did it".
other players are tough to determine. Geno everyone seems to be voting for, but I am not sure if that is Meta/jokes or legit. I think it is very VERY weird that Blargonaut is absent so far, but maybe that was supposed to happen. kinda have null reads fro Hecht and Fireblend. I like Gorlak a little, but still just barely town than null.
And those are only the people that i have reads on and it barely is 14/49 (since I am 50 and know where I am in this game).
In theory, but I don't see why someone would use it day one on melon and Splinter when next to no one posted reads on them to begin with. If this is an ability and the user knew "no lynch" was an option, they'd have to be pretty foolish to choose those two specifically and this early into the game. No lynch would be next to inevitable given the current climate. Also the point of it as a power is that even if no lynch is an option, it's obvious most people wouldn't like no lynches in most situations. Maybe it was expected to be used on a later day when people would have better reads on people?
Not saying it was for sure a power but it's not impossible. A no lynch in a way is a nice counterbalance to it. You either lynch one of the people the person with the power wanted to be lynched or you choose a 3rd option which is basically "Screw you power user" type of thing.
So not impossible to be a power no.
