Yeah, I'm just learning through experience that sometimes when you're the gamerunner you just need to sit back and appreciate the chaos. I obviously can't play my own game, so even though there are things where I think "Well, that's certainly not how I had planned for this or that to go!" I just need to appreciate that players are going to surprise me and that I should be looking forward to that haha.
As for your view of votes, I think you should start thinking of your vote more like a tool instead of a weapon. Yes, your vote can be used to take someone out of the game. Your vote can also be used in other ways though. Vote for someone just for fun if nothing is going on, see what their reaction is, are they jumpy, maybe a little too cool for school about it? Might be Scum! Or if someone does something that just instinctively reads as scummy to you, vote them and say why. Votes don't always need to be accompanied by huge read lists and mega posts. You can move your vote at any time, or you can unvote at any time too. People always react to votes as well, it gets people talking about things. Vote data is always useful to look back on in later days, see how a train got started, who jumped on who, when and why, or who decided to vote for Player A when Player B was also up for the vote. Things like that are all really important for Town, and they can't happen if everyone hangs on to their votes all day.
And as for voting for me early, that's a good call! If I'm Scum, I'm going to freak the fuck out if anyone votes for me, so my reaction could be useful in future reads on me! :)
I kind of want to run a Mini for my next game, before me and Melon finish up EZA and get that ready to go.
I've been floating around the idea of doing Before the Storm, the prequel to LiS, as a Mini game because it was shorter than the first game and has less characters.
